Both the E46 M3 and E39 M5 suffer from heat soaking of the Intake Air Temperature sensor due them being in the MAF sensor as standard. Using a relocation kit allows you to move the IAT sensor to your chosen location while keeping full functionality.  

Keeping an eye on your engine is vital for spotting issues early and preventing expensive damage. Using OBDII diagnostic equipment allows you to view variables and parameters from sensors fitted to the engine (amount of gauges varies with vehicle application) to monitor engine behaviour.
